Flora for Fauna News:
Site launch sparks Australia-wide environmental project
Nation-wide biodiversity initiative, Flora for Fauna, took flight today (15/11/01) with the launch of the driving online component - www.floraforfauna.com.au. The interactive website utilises unique technology that was custom-built for the Eureka Award-winning Wildscape project to encourage users to bring new life to the gardens in our cities and towns.
People at home or children in schools across Australia can create a garden landscape plan online that will attract different types of native fauna, relative to their geographical location. They can then turn their blueprint into a flourishing, bustling reality by visiting a participating Flora for Fauna nursery and purchasing the required plants.
The site also offers DIY gardening information sheets, a database of native plants and news of biodiversity events across the country.
Flora for Fauna is the first nation-wide project of its kind in Australia. The idea was conceived and brought to the Australian Nursery Industry by Jill Hamilton, UK originator of the program.
We look forward to hearing about people's projects and any news that you think may be of interest to the Flora for Fauna gardening community. Why not contact us and tell us about your experiences with the site.
